From Managing Trustee's desk...
The idea of forming a charitable trust started with a miracle. In the year 2002, my mother (67), daughter(4) and I narrowly escaped from a fatal accident. A loaded truck ran over us as we were waiting to catch a bus. All of us were seriously injured. My mother was trapped under the truck and my right leg was run over by it. Luckily my daughter narrowly escaped. During that time only my mother was a devotee of Sai Baba but subconsciously, I prayed to Baba to save my mother’s life.
We were admitted at Kalinga Hospital. My mother was operated on for 18hrs. We were informed by the surgeon that her heartbeat stopped twice but she survived and the operation was successful. We were admitted for 49 days and were bedridden for another 3 months. I believed that we survived with Baba’s grace. Someone advised me to start reading Sai Satcharitra and learn more about Baba and his teachings.
During our recovery period, there was a robbery in our house. We lost all our valuables that night but our lives were saved.
The next day we decided that we will shift from that ominous rented house to our unfinished apartment. When we were packing, a neighbour, pointing toward’s Baba’s photo, said to me, “You are very lucky. You are the first family to leave the house alive cause previously 2 tenants have already lost their lives here. It’s all Sai Baba’s blessings”
After moving into our new home, I installed Baba’s idol and started worshiping and reading Sai Satcharitra every day. Eventually, I started to mentally recover from the post-traumatic stress of the unfortunate incidents and good things started happening in my life.
Before the accident, I was working for a private company as a regional manager for 16 years. When the accident happened, the owner turned his back towards me and didn’t pay a single rupee for the hospital expenses. So, I quit my job and sued him. All his wrongdoings came into light, his 4 industries were auctioned off gradually and he was jailed.
I joined another company which was based in Nagpur and as a result, I frequently visited Shiridi. I met a lot of devotees from Odisha and beyond, who shared similar miraculous experiences of Baba. My devotion to Baba grew and I, along with some devotees, decided to start a charitable trust in Sai Baba’s name with an aim to serve the society.
It’s been 7 years since the trust was registered in 2009 and now we have 9 Trustees, around 50 life members and more than 3000 members all across India. We are currently working on our dream project “Club-60 Farmhouse” which is a residential home for senior citizens. With Baba’s blessings and members’ dedication, we are sure that we’ll complete the project shortly.
